The FertiCovery project consortium met on 20 January 2026 in Cartagena (Spain) for a fruitful in-person meeting focused on progress to date and the road ahead, with 2026 set to be a particularly dynamic year for the project. Partners exchanged insights on ongoing activities, including work on the market uptake and replication potential of bio-based fertilisers, as well as open stakeholder engagement actions aimed at fostering collaboration across the entire fertiliser value chain.
Discussions also addressed the regulatory framework and FertiCovery’s plans to support the agriculture sector through digital labelling of EU fertilising products. In parallel, the consortium is developing an overall synthesis of best available technologies, supported by datasheets and practical recommendations.
The following day, collaboration was further strengthened through a joint meeting between the FertiCovery and FERTITEC projects, kindly facilitated by CETENMA. The two projects are thematically aligned and address complementary segments of the bio-based fertiliser value chain, both focusing on converting secondary raw materials into safe and effective products while enabling market uptake through data, replication, and policy support. A highlight of the joint meeting was a visit to Agronova Biotech facilities (Home – Agronova), offering first-hand insight into best available techniques for producing bio-based fertilisers and other high-value products such as biostimulants and biocontrols.
