How can fertilising products from secondary raw materials move from promising research results to safe and practical use? This workshop will connect scientific evidence on product composition, safety, environmental impact and plant response with the information needed by farmers, fertiliser companies, researchers and policymakers.
A holder of a secondary raw material may not want, or may not be ready, to become a fertiliser manufacturer. Cooperation with a fertiliser company willing and able to take responsibility for the final product may therefore be necessary.
Researchers can act as a platform of trust by connecting secondary raw material holders, fertiliser companies, laboratories, users and policymakers. Their role is to generate transparent, comparable and traceable evidence. They support product decisions, but do not replace the accountable manufacturer. The presentations, the interactive session and final discussion will contribute to:
- practical guidelines for users;
- recommendations for researchers on useful, comparable and reusable fertiliser studies;
- science-based recommendations for policymakers;
- better cooperation between secondary raw material holders, researchers and fertiliser manufacturers.
