Online Workshop: Nutrient recovery & recycling technologies – State of play

Date: Thursday, 19 February 2026

Time: 10:00–11:30 CET

Format: Online via Microsoft Teams – register here

FertiCovery advances nutrient recovery and the production of bio-based fertilisers from secondary raw materials such as biowaste, manure and wastewater, with the aim of improving soil health. The project supports policymakers and stakeholders in adopting alternative fertilising products.

Its goal is to describe and assess 25 nutrient recovery and bio-based fertiliser technologies, including their feedstocks, value chains, products and applications. The analysis covers technical and environmental performance, feedstock availability, upscaling potential, regulatory frameworks, costs, social risks and replication potential.

Join our second workshop in a series, which will bring together project partners and stakeholders to review, discuss and validate the final list of Technical Assessment Indicators (TAIs) and Environmental Assessment Indicators (EAIs), which will serve as the basis for benchmarking nutrient recycling (NR) and bio-based fertiliser (BBF) production technologies.

The workshop will focus on aligning the assessment approach and selecting the most relevant indicators for the multi-criteria comparison of NR and BBF technologies. Contributions from stakeholders will be collected using interactive tools to refine the indicator list and rating system.

The workshop agenda is available here.

Agenda:

  • Overview of FERTICOVERY progress
  • Presentation of the proposed list of TAIs and EAIs – Explanation of selected technical and environmental indicators and reference units
  • Interactive session with stakeholders
  • Q&A and open discussion

Registration is available here.  After the registration, a Teams link will be sent in the confirmation email.
